MORE WOMEN SEEM TO BE CROSSING STATE LINES TO HAVE ABORTIONS IN ILLINOIS

Image
Posted at ILHEADLINES : When Alison Dreith learned of her unplanned pregnancy, the St. Louis resident said she chose to travel to Illinois to have an abortion in 2016. She is the executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri and lived closer to a Planned Parenthood clinic in St. Louis where she used to work and knew some of the staff. But Dreith said Missouri’s 72-hour waiting period and other regulations made terminating a pregnancy far more burdensome in her state. “I knew Missouri’s laws,” she said. “I never even thought twice about making the decision to go to Illinois.” More women appear to be traveling from out of state to have an abortion in Illinois even as the total number of terminated pregnancies statewide decreased, according to the most recent figures from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Wheaton College wins order vs Obamacare contraceptive mandate; Judge: Violates religious freedom

Image
By Jonathan Bilyk - Posted at Cook County Record : In the wake of a decision by the administration of President Donald Trump to reinterpret federal health regulations requiring religious employers to pay for contraceptive health insurance coverage, a federal judge has granted Wheaton College a permanent injunction barring the federal government from forcing the prominent evangelical Christian college in Chicago’s western suburbs from having to pay for its employees’ contraception, which the college had argued would violate its religious rights. On Feb. 22, U.S. District Judge Robert M. Dow Jr. issued the injunction, permanently prohibiting the federal government from enforcing the so-called contraceptive mandate under the federal Affordable Care Act, the sweeping health insurance reform law commonly known as Obamacare. ‘They never told me’: Women testify of being deceived by the abortion industry

Image
By Carole Novielli - Posted at Saynsumthn's Blog: Abortion has been sold to the public by Planned Parenthood , the abortion industry, and its friends in the media as a “right” for women, and as a marker of women’s empowerment. But in reality, many abortion patients say the experience was not the least bit empowering, testifying how they were given almost no information regarding the potential physical and emotional effects of the procedure, or regarding facts about the development of their babies. Beyond this, it is clear that teens who have abortions are at particular risk, as Planned Parenthood and other facilities do little to protect them, asking few questions and failing to report potential sexual abuse . Below are statements from several women, including many minors, who suffered at the hands of the abortion industry, submitted to the Supreme Court in the case of Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt , which the Court decided in favor of the plaintiff, an abortio

WHAT IS THE FATE OF SEXUALLY PROGRESSIVE SOCIETIES?

Image
Posted at Mann's Word : We need to hear the voice of history. In "Sex and Culture" (1934) the anthropologist J.D. Unwin found a universal correlation between monogamy and a civilization's "expansive energy." He wrote:  "These [sexually progressive] societies lived in different geographical environments; they belonged to different racial stocks; but the history of their marriage customs is the same. In the beginning each society had the same ideas in regard to sexual regulations. Then the same struggles took place; the same sentiments were expressed; the same changes were made; the same results ensued. Each society reduced its sexual opportunity to a minimum and displaying great social energy, flourished greatly. Then it extended its sexual opportunity; its energy decreased, and faded away. The one outstanding feature of the whole story is its unrelieved monotony." Why isn’t there any present discussion of these possible costs? An adolescent

Adoption, IVF, and a closed door

Image
By Jesse Johnson - Posted at The Cripplegate: Recently I was asked at a Bible study for advice from a few couples who had been trying to adopt but without success, as well as a few who had been pursuing in vitro fertilization (IVF), also without success. The gist oft the question: should they keep trying, or try a different method (adoption vs IVF)? My answer was recorded, and I’ve given it to other couples as well. It’s transcribed below with the hope it can be helpful to others. Now, I know every situation is different and if I talked to you guys personally and got more info on each of your situations, my input might be different than what follows. But with that disclaimer, here are the main points to consider as you weigh these options: 1. God is sovereign over the womb. He controls when people get pregnant, miscarry, and give birth, and every detail in between. He is in control of this, and he’s in control personally. In that he loves you, has a plan for you, and is w

Is Your Church Pro-Life?

Image
By Jared Olivetti - Posted at Gentle Reformation : Is your church pro-life? Almost everyone reading this blog would say “Yes. Of course.” If, by “pro-life”, we mean that a church has a stand against abortion tucked away in its confession somewhere and that they pray against abortion on the Sanctity of Life Sunday, then yes, many protestant churches could be called pro-life. But what if we saw the calling to be pro-life as something more foundational to our identity as gospel-preaching churches? What would it look like to be–in the biggest possible sense–pro-life? The assumption of this post is simple: human life is precious beyond calculation because God made it in His image and that all churches ought to be pro-life. The argument of this post is simple: the American church should stop treating the pro-life issue as primarily political and national and narrow. And we should start seeing it as primarily relational and local and broad. Continue reading...

MARCH 20, 2018: PLEASE REMEMBER TO NOT VOTE FOR BRUCE RAUNER

Image
By Angela Wittman Dear Friends, The 2018 Illinois gubernatorial primary election is fast approaching and will take place on March 20th. Please remember to NOT vote for pro-abort Governor Bruce Rauner. I don't care how much the Republican establishment in Illinois throws at you in order to secure this wicked man's re-election, please stand firm in your resolve to not allow a prenatal baby killer (or one who supports it) to serve as governor of our state. Just say "no" to fear and "yes" to faith in Christ by voting for a godly candidate. Here are just a few articles documenting Bruce Rauner's betrayal of the pre-born and the conservative Christians who helped elect him in 2014: IL GOP Gov. Bruce Rauner to sign HB 40, become first governor in U.S. to require taxpayers to fund abortion Posted at Prairie State Wire: Governor Bruce Rauner will sign House Bill 40, mandating state taxpayer funding of abortion, sources tell Prairie State Wire. By Heather Clark - Posted at Christian News Network: Photo Credit: Andrew White for Governor Facebook page - Christian News Network HOUSTON, Texas — A ruling elder at a Presbyterian PCA church in Texas who is running for the governor of Texas is raising concern after he recently advised during an interview with Texas Public Radio that while he and his wife personally would not obtain an abortion, he believes in upholding the so-called “right to choose” for others. Andrew White is an elder at Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Houston, and is also running as a Democrat in the race for governor. On Jan. 26, White was interviewed by David Martin Davies about his position on various issues affecting the state of Texas, including abortion. “There is a kerfuffle happening in the race about you and your position on Roe v. Wade,” Davies noted. “Some people have accused you of being soft on keeping abortion legal.” “I disagree,” White replied. “I support Roe v. Wade 100 perce
